The www.armrights.am online platform for the protection of Artsakh Armenians' rights presents an interview with Juletta Arustamyan, Chairperson of the Board of CSO Network for Protection of Forcibly Displaced Persons from Artsakh and Executive Director of "Harmony" Shushi Women's NGO, about current issues in protecting Artsakh Armenians' rights and prospects for cooperation with the Armenian business community.
- Mrs. Arustamyan, what is the purpose of establishing the CSO Network for Protection of Rights of Forcibly Displaced Persons from Artsakh?
- The CSO Network for Protection of Rights of Forcibly Displaced Persons from Artsakh was founded on March 12, 2024, uniting twelve civil society organizations, ten of which were founded and are led by our compatriots forcibly displaced from Artsakh and Azerbaijan. Our mission is to promote the integration of Artsakh Armenians in Armenia through strengthening mechanisms for protecting their rights. In a short period, we have formed an effective board of directors, held seven sessions where the secretariat regularly presented project progress and made statements on urgent issues regarding the protection of Artsakh Armenians' rights.
- Can you talk about the work your team has already accomplished?
- Over one year, our team has provided free legal assistance to 305 forcibly displaced persons from Artsakh. As Chairman of the Network's Board, I have personally participated in seminars and meetings organized with Artsakh Armenians in communities, directly hearing our compatriots' legal issues. Our specialists have visited 22 communities from Gyumri to Goris. Additionally, we have created the www.armrights.am online platform for protecting Artsakh Armenians' rights, through which Artsakh Armenians can also receive legal assistance remotely.
- What are the main legal issues facing Artsakh Armenians?
- Our analyses have shown the following main legal issues: housing provision, social support, refugee status, restoration of property rights documents, inheritance acceptance, and pension matters. Our team has already developed and submitted to the RA Government a public policy document on resolving each of the above-mentioned legal issues. Our goal is not only to solve individual problems of Artsakh Armenians but also to propose systemic improvement changes at the state level in the field of protecting Artsakh Armenians' rights.
- Why are you appealing to the Armenian business community and Armenian national benefactors today?
- Starting today, we are appealing to Armenia's 1000 largest taxpayers, national entrepreneurs, and benefactors because protecting Artsakh Armenians' rights is a matter of our national dignity. Each restored right, solved problem, and returned document of our compatriots means the rebirth of one family. At this crucial moment, our nation's unity, especially the participation of the national business community and national benefactors, can play a decisive role in protecting Artsakh Armenians' rights.
We have created a transparent mechanism where the use of every invested dram is clearly accountable and visible on the www.armrights.am online platform for protecting Artsakh Armenians' rights. First and foremost, we are appealing to the thousand largest taxpayers in the Republic of Armenia, who create added value for our country through their daily activities. We are hopeful that the national business community and benefactors, remaining faithful to their patriotic traditions, will respond to our call. Our platform will dedicate special space to those organizations and individuals who rise to the occasion and support this patriotic initiative. We are confident that through united efforts, we can bring significant change to our compatriots' lives by restoring their violated rights and dignity.
