The Armenian Lawyers’ Association Achieves Another Success: Funeral Benefit Granted to a Beneficiary

Within the framework of the “Strengthening Mechanisms for the Protection of the Rights of Persons Forcibly Displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh” project, the Armenian Lawyers’ Association (ALA) provides free legal assistance to forcibly displaced persons in vulnerable situations, including socially disadvantaged and unemployed individuals, persons with disabilities, students, women, and others.
As part of this project, Susanna Sahakyan approached the ALA seeking assistance in obtaining a funeral benefit.
According to Article 44, Point 5 of the Law of the Republic of Armenia “On State Pensions,” a funeral benefit is granted if the burial takes place in the Republic of Armenia or if the pensioner dies in the Republic of Armenia. The benefit is granted provided that the written application and the required documents are submitted to the pension-granting unit within six months of the person’s death.
The beneficiary’s husband had died in the Republic of Armenia, and his burial had also taken place in the country.
Taking these circumstances into account, the ALA prepared an application on behalf of the beneficiary and submitted the necessary supporting documents.
The request submitted by the Armenian Lawyers’ Association was granted, and the beneficiary was awarded the funeral benefit.
